Sam is an ambulance that has adventures, sometimes with the rescue helicopter. These books offer a way for children to relate to ambulances and paramedics in a fun way. Each story explains something different about the equipment and what the ambulance is used for. The first story in the series introduces Sam the ambulance and a little of what his job involves.
Author Francine Currie a Volunteer Ambulance Officer came up with the concept of Sam after recognising that children who require ambulance services are often unsure or scared. The stories draw inspiration from the beautiful area she lives and works in; Tasman, New Zealand.
